Salvador Alsius

Salvador_Alsius_UPFPhD in Journalism and undergraduate degrees in Economics and Information Sciences. He is a senior member of Research in Journalism Research Group (GRP) at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. His main research interests are journalistic ethics and convergence of media at newsrooms. He currently leads the projects “Integrated Journalism in Europe (IJIE)”, “Transparency and Media Accountability” and he is the head of the Spanish team that participate in the EU-funded project “MediaAct (Media Accountability and transparency in Europe). Previously, he was the main researcher of the project “Ethics and Excellence” in the Spanish R+D program (2006-2010). In his extensive career as a media professional, he has worked in press, radio and television and he was the director and conductor of various news programs on the public television in Catalonia (TV3).

Josep Blat

Josep_Blat_UPFPhD in Mathematics (Heriot-Watt University, 1985) and director of the GTI and Professor of Computer Science at UPF since 1998, where he has been director of the Audiovisual University Insitute, the Department of Information and Communication Technologies and the Polytechnic School. His current interests include cooperative environments; intelligent web portals; educational telematics; multimedia and GIS; computational educational toys and advanced 3D graphics (human modelling and animation). Josep Blat has developed extensive RTD in the European projects, with a focus on media technology research (iMP, IP-RACINE, Speed-FX, SEMEDIA, SALERO, eTITLE, SCOPE, Link3D, CHARM).

Carles Singla

Carles_Singla_UPFPhD in Journalism from the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) (2003) and graduated in Information Sciences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB, 1989). A full professor in journalism, he is the director of Bachelor in Journalism at UPF Faculty of Communication. From 1996 he is also the co-director of MA in Communications Direction, at IDEC-Pompeu Fabra University. In his professional career, he has worked as a journalist at the Catalan newspaper Avui and the Diari de Barcelona and as a contributor at the El Temps weekly magazine and the Spanish newspaper El País.

Carles Pont

Carles_Pont_UPFPhD in Social Communication, MA in Social Communication and graduated from Sciences of the Education and Journalism. He is a Senior Lecturer at Universitat Pompeu Fabra Department of Communication. His research concerns Risk and Crisis Communication and Political Communication. He has participated in sponsored investigations on electoral campaigns and communication and mass media in crisis situation. He has written several books and scientific articles about risk communication, journalism history and political communication. In the professional field, he has worked in several mass media, National Radio of Spain, Andorra Television and in Catalunya Radio.

Núria Almiron

Nuria_Almiron_UPFLecturer and researcher at the Department of Communications of Universitat Pompeu Fabra since 2008. PhD in Journalism & Communication from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. From the same university holds a Bachelor in Political Sciences (1994) and a Bachelor in Communication Sciences (1992). Worked as ICT journalist from 1993 to 2003 and as teacher at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona from 2003 to 2008. Her latest authored book is Journalism in crisis (Hampton Press, 2010) and her latest book contribution is a chapter published in Media in the swirl (Pentagon Press, 2012).

Mònica Figueras

Monica_Figueras_UPFPhD in Journalism at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2005) and holds undergraduate degrees in Journalism (1993) and Sociology (1995) at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. She is a Senior Lecturer at UPF Department of Communication since 1998. Her research interests are Journalism Ethics, Youth and Media, Gender and Media, Education and Media; Immigration and Media and Sociology of Consumerism. She is currently the Vice head of the Communication Department at Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the co-coordinator of the Official Interuniversity Master “Youth and Society”. She has worked on several funded research projects, concerning journalism ethics, teaching and audiovisual communication.

Davinia Hernández-Leo

Davinia_Hernandez-Leo_UPFPhD with European mention (2007) and M.S. in telecommunications engineering from University of Valladolid (Spain). She is an Assistant Professor at the Information and Communications Technologies Department of Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), the coordinator of the Educational Technologies section of the Interactive Technologies Group (GTI) and the Vice-Principal of the UPF Polytechnic School. Her research area is focused on educational technologies, with an emphasis on Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning, including interest from learning environments and tools to social technologies, standards and interoperability and devices for learning.

Christopher Tulloch

Christopher_Tulloch_UPFPhD in Journalism from Universitat Pompeu Fabra, M.A. in Japanese Studies from the Universities of Essex (UK) and Tokyo and a B.A. in English from the University of York (UK). He is a lecturer in International Journalism and co-director of the M.A. programme in International Political Journalism at the UPF. His main research interests are global media and the communication of armed conflicts. He has been a visiting lecturer at the Universities of the United Nations in Geneva, Southampton, the Basque Country, New Haven, Connecticut and El Salvador. He has worked as a foreign correspondent in Spain for over 20 years and has worked for media such as La Vanguardia and Catalunya Radio.

Eva Domínguez

Eva_Dominguez_UPFPhD in Immersive Journalism (Universitat Ramon Llull, 2013), Masters degree on Interactive Telecommunications (New York University, 1999) and journalism degree by Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (1993). She is a multimedia journalist, teacher and researcher. Her main area of interest is the new narratives in digital journalism. She worked as a reporter for Diari de Barcelona and El Periódico de Catalunya, as a multimedia editor-in-chief for La Vanguardia Digital, and as a online project manager for Planeta de Agostini Online and GEC (UOC’s group company). She has got both La Caixa and Fulbright fellowships.

Jonathan Chacón

Jonathan_Chacon_UPFMember of the Interactive Technologies Group (GTI) of UPF . He holds a Computer Science Degree (2009), Master (2010), and has been awarded with a Spanish Government grant for carrying out his PhD. He has been collaborating with the GTI since 2007. He also participated in the ICT IP European project TENCompetence, deploying and configuring the project infrastructure to support pilots. He is involved in the LdShake team (Learn3, EEE, METIS, IJIE projects). His research area is focused on educational technologies, with an emphasis on social and semantic-based approaches to support teachers in the learning design and sharing processes.

Irene Da Rocha

Irene_da_Rocha_UPFPhD in Public Communication, with her thesis entitled “Newsrooms integration and Journalism Education”. Holds also a BA in Audiovisual Communication, BA in Advertisement and Public Relations, and BA in Marketing. and MA in E-Learning and educative technologies, MA in Translation, Interpretation and Intercultural Studies. She is an expert in E-learning and multimedia, and has participated in several projects related to her areas of interest. She has taught several subjects in the BA Journalism (Newsroom and press workshop, Integrated Journalism Workshop, Fundamentals of Journalism… The UPF Board of Trustees awarded her with the quality and innovation in teaching prize in 2011 and 2014.

Marta Narberhaus

Marta_Narberhaus_UPFBA in Art History from the Universitat de Barcelona, BA in Journalism from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and MA in Social Communication (UPF). Her teaching experience includes being teacher assistant at the BA in Journalism (UPF). She has also worked as a professional journalist in several media (radio, television, print and internet). She currently combines her PhD research with occasional collaboration in local media. Her research interests are Ethics and Journalism, History of Journalism, Quality and production of news in media and Children’s television.

Ariadna Fernández

Ariadna_Fernandez_UPFPhD candidate and BA in Journalism (2006) from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), where she is currently a teacher and researcher. She is lecturer of the subject “Internet journalism” and assistant professor at the subject “Integrated Journalism Workshop”. Her research focuses on studies of reception and how the youth make use of the media, especially through television, Internet and Social Media. She previously worked in the Spanish public television, Televisión Española, in the interactive area of a pioneering programme that experimented with the convergence of media and content.

Xavier Ramon

Xavier_Ramon_UPFPhD candidate, MA in Advanced Studies in Social Communication (2012), BA in Journalism (2011) and BA in Audiovisual Communication (2009) from Universitat Pompeu Fabra. He is a teacher and researcher at the UPF Department of Communication, being a professor at the subject “Journalistic Deontology” and an assistant teacher of the “Integrated Journalism Workshop” (BA in Journalism). His areas of interest include Ethics of Journalism and quality of information, Sports Journalism and Olympic Studies. He also participates in the project “Transparency in Media Accountability” (Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness).
